Many Rhode Island residents understand that conflicts involving family law matters can be very difficult to resolve. Furthermore, they can bring ample stress and financial discomfort. One way to approach these difficult disputes is through the process of mediation. After all, everyone would prefer an expedited and cheaper legal process. If individuals can work together to resolve their issues out of court, this can save a lot of stress and time.
In a recent story, one former celebrity couple has resolved their family law dispute outside of the courtroom. Padma Lakshmi, host of "Top Chef," has settled her child custody battle with the father of her child, Adam Dell. Sources say that Dell previously filed suit for full custody of their two-year-old daughter, claiming that that Lakshmi limited his visitation time.
Fortunately, the couple has reached a compromise. A source explains, "They settled privately out of court and came to an agreement." According to the agreement, Dell will get broader visitation and custody rights. Furthermore, Dell will now be legally recognized as the father of the little girl, who will adopt Dell's last name in part of her legal name.
Are you in the middle of a heated family law disagreement? If you are, you should know that you can avoid a major legal headache if you settle a child visitation or custody dispute out of court. If you would like to approach your family law issue in a very level-headed and private way, mediation is one simplified option that can help you find solutions.
