Celebrities can teach us about more than just fashion these days. As divorce becomes more common place, couples considering divorce may want to take a few cues from celebrity couples facing the same issue. Divorce mediation is becoming increasingly desirable for couples.
Nascar driver Danica Patrick has filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Paul Hospenthal. Patrick indicated that the couple has mutually and amicably decided to end their marriage. A prenuptial agreement was in place and neither side will require alimony. The agreement between the couple will be presented to the court at a future date.
The divorce process is off to a smooth and seamless start for the celebrity couple. There are two very important factors that should be considered when deciding how to proceed with a divorce. The celebrity couple's divorce is moving swiftly and easily because of their pre-nuptial agreement and their mutual agreement that they will present to the court. The goals of swiftness and ease can be accomplished through mediation.
Pre-nuptial agreements express the wishes of the couple as to division of assets and property in the divorce. However, if a couple does not feel comfortable or believe in pre-nuptial agreements, mediation may be the way to go. Divorce mediation involves a facilitator, not a judge that assists the couple in coming together to reach their individual goals. Mediation is not in a courtroom and is much less combative than litigation. All issues including child custody/support and division of assets can be addressed in mediation.
Divorce can be a challenging process. Mediation may be a very effective and less stressful way to navigate through the process in some cases. If an individual is considering divorce, it is important to understand all the different options available to help ease the process.
